Birch Class

Birch Class is a mixed Year 3 & 4 class taught by Mrs Garrett each day and by Mr Pike on Thursday afternoons. The class is also supported by Mrs Elsweiler, Mrs Perkins, Mrs Brocklebank and Mrs Folkard. On Wednesday afternoons the children enjoy a PE lesson delivered by Sportastic.

A full timetable of topics and activities has been planned for the year ahead. So far this year, the class have already been finding out about Ancient Greece and the human digestive system and are looking forward to learning about the United Kingdom in their Geography project as well as the Saxons and Environments in History and Science.

As children progress through Lower Keystage 2 (Yrs 3 & 4), reading fluency and good comprehension helps them to access every aspect of their curriculum. The importance of regular reading practise and encouraging a love of reading can't be understated. Please spend a regular, however small, amount of time hearing your child read.

Fluency with times tables and number bonds is also vitally important for underpinning children's understanding and progress in Maths. Please support your child to develop these essential skills.

The year ahead in Birch class will be full of enjoyable, meaningful learning and we are all looking forward to it.
