Chestnut Class

Welcome to our class page!

This year we have a class of 17 pupils from Year 1 who are taught by Mrs Barnes on Monday and Ms Macdonald on Tuesday to Friday. In our class, we are supported by Mrs Robinson, Mrs Hickford, Mrs Folkard and Mrs Elsweiler throughout the week.

Our weekly timetable:

Monday - Mrs Barnes. Spanish & ICT

Tuesday - Ms Macdonald

Wednesday - Ms Macdonald. Mrs Guilfoyle & Mrs Clark, our school sports coaches from Sportastic. Homework to be returned to school.

Thursday - Ms Macdonald

Friday - Ms Macdonald in the morning. Homework given out. Mrs Hickford teaches us RE in the afternoon.

Reading

We aim to hear the children read at least twice a week in class. We also encourage the children to read daily at home and this forms part of our homework. We want to encourage a love of reading for enjoyment so sharing books at home will help us to achieve this.

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a Friday which will include Maths or English tasks, spellings to learn and times tables to practice. It should then be handed in on a Wednesday.

Our topics this year

Autumn Term: Castles and Dragons, and Festivals

Spring Term: Nurturing Nurses and Magical Mapping

Summer Term: What a Wonderful World and Great Explorers.

Science Topics this year

We have lots of things planned for the year ahead in Chestnut Class and we will share photos of our journey on this class page with you.
