Birch Class

Birch Class is a mixed Year 3 & 4 class taught by Mrs Barnes on Mondays and Tuesdays, Mrs Bearman on Wednesdays and Thursdays and Mr Pike on Fridays. The class is also supported by Miss Russell, Mrs Perkins, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Hickford. On Tuesday afternoons the children enjoy a PE lesson delivered by Sportastic.

A full timetable of topics and activities has been planned for the year ahead. So far this year, the class have already been finding out about Ancient Egypt and will be learning about the desert in their Geography topic in the second half of the autumn term.

As children progress through Lower Keystage 2 (Yrs 3 & 4), reading fluency and good comprehension helps them to access every aspect of their curriculum. The importance of regular reading practise and encouraging a love of reading can't be understated. Please spend a regular, however small, amount of time hearing your child read.

Fluency with times tables and number bonds is also vitally important for underpinning children's understanding and progress in Maths. Please support your child to develop these essential skills.

The year ahead in Birch class will be full of enjoyable, meaningful learning and we are all looking forward to it.
